New Town Baptist Church

On March 2nd. Faith Baptist will be joining up with New Town Baptist Church. There is also going to be a joint choir. I am really excited about this weekend. However, the weekend will not be difficult to prepare for, there will be a little preparation.

On THURSDAY Feb 28th. Faith Choir will meet with the New Town Choir at New Town to work on a couple of different choir specials. One choir special is the Faith Fav “Halfway”. The second special is a New Town Fav “I will sing Hallelujah”.

Also, there will be a shorter rehearsal Sunday at 4:45 at Faith to run through the service. Please mark in on your calendars to be a part of the joint choir. It is going to be a blast.

I asked this question during choir practice Wednesday and I just wanted to comment on your answers.

  1. Perseverance - This issue is a lot simpler when you do not rely on other people. When people work and work and work so that as a group they can accomplish a goal, that’s perseverance.
  2. Patience
  3. Musical rules - start together, end together
  4. Bonding with others
  5. Enjoying a challenge

February Planning

Let’s Make February a month of evangelism. But let’s not focus on how “you” need God but who God is. For each week, let’s pick out a theme for each week about who God is.

  1. Feb. 3 - God is touchable (personable - video)
  2. Feb. 10
  3. Feb. 20 - God is… (actually this is the theme. Check out the video.)
  4. Feb. 27 - God can use you (video)

What will the 10th be?

Okay, do you know of anyone who is interested in being a part of the worship ministry? This would include sound, lights, media, choir, band… If you do, let me know. email me any prospects.

Stanley,

Thank you for taking the time to open our eyes to different ways of corporate worship. Just from a few previous comments on another post, I have found that you guys “do” church a little differently that us in Arkansas. So I would like to find out what a typical service would be like. I am excited to be able to share this post with other members of the music ministry and leaders at Faith.

First of all, feel free to answer these questions when you get a chance. Also, I know that you are probably busy so I am going to keep the interview to no longer than a week.  Also, I want to ask other readers to refrain from asking questions until I ask. Comments are allowed from other readers, but please limit the questions to the end. If any other reader may have a question, please email them to me.

Stan, Toronto is much different than us southern-country folk. There are just about two different people here. We have a southern-American culture along with a huge hispanic culture. But I hear that Toronto has many people groups. If this is true, how does a church minister to all the people in Toronto? Is it hard to do evangelism within Toronto? So I guess the first question is, what is Toronto like?

“So I stationed people behind the lowest sections of the wall, at the vulnerable areas. I stationed them by families with their swords, spears, and bows.” - Nehemiah 4:13

Steven is my good friend. I sang in his wedding. He ushered at mine. When he developed Hodgkin’s Disease, he called me. When Kathy and I lost a baby to miscarriage, I called him. When the foster child he was trying to adopt was taken from him, I prayed with him. When I returned to my New Orleans home after Hurricane Katrina, he came with me. He’s my good friend.

Nehemiah stationed those working n the wall to stand guard by families. He knew that people needed to be with others with whom they have a relationship. He realized that it is easier for people to overcome discouragement when they know that somebody “has their back.”

Today, remember to make contact with your friends. Remember that God gave you your friends to help you go through difficult times. Remember also that god gave you to your friends to help them go through difficult times.

Lord, thank You for the friends that You have given me.

I’m just wanting your thoughts.

Why did God not except Cain’s offering?
